Thrs, 1/26/12, 630 – 9pm: Chocolate & Wine Tasting at Dania Beach Location! Travel through seven different wines expertly paired with JIMMIE’S handmade chocolates.  Only $25 per person! A great night of chocolate & wine is planned with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Water Polo Teams

Tues, 2/14/12: Our annual “Night of Tropical Romance” is once again being planned at JIMMIE’S CAFE.  A decadent three course meal is in the works. Two seating of an amazing prix-fixe meal is planned. Reservations will be required.  Keep checking back for more details.  Menu and times will be posted by Monday, 1/30/12

Ok, so here’s some genuine insight into why I love my gig!!

Recently, during a late night going through e-mails & organizing chocolate production for the next day, I happened to have a random TV station playing for background noise. The movie airing was “Fred Claus”.  Not an academy nominee but it featured Vince Vaughn..Holiday fluff… How bad could it be?

Basic Theme: Santa’s in trouble, his n’er-do-well Brother, Fred, finds holiday cheer and saves the day… Here’s where the metaphor kicks in..

Although I love them for doing what they do, as a grown-up I’ve often pondered why Santa and the Elves bust their humps like they do? Especially for a sometimes ungrateful world….  At the end of this movie my question was answered and I saw the payoff!!  It made me think about my own wonderful life.  Let me backtrack…

In this movie, once Santa makes his return to the North Pole, after all the Christmas presents are delivered, Santa and all the Elves gather around a giant snow-globe.  The globe (a complete invasion of privacy but go with me on this one) is showing magnificent scenes of various Christmas mornings around the world.  They watch (again, kinda’ creepy) as delighted gift-openeners get their most wished for present.

The Elves are truly touched. That was their payoff. Their hearts were obviously singing from the good deeds they had done and the joy they put into the world!

I was lucky to find my passion early in life, and even luckier to be given the opportunities to pursue it.  Thinking of JIMMIE’S chocolate truffles being enjoyed at your Christmas Table, or our chocolate dipped apricots being enjoyed when you celebrate the lighting of your family’s Hanukah Menorah, or our dark chocolate truffle and champagne being savored as indulgent ways to ring in the New Year..  Those thoughts are big parts of my personal payoff…  Doing what I love, and by the “doing” bringing a smile to a person’s face.. My heart is singing too!

Being a small, special part of your holiday season is…. Well… Extra chocolate shavings on my chocolate truffle-of-a-life!

I’m blessed to make a living doing what I love.  You, JIMMIE’S guests, patrons, Team, friends and family all make that blessing possible.

There are open positions in our Cafe, Retail Shoppes and Factory.

Position descriptions and application times are listed at the end of this article.  No matter the position being applied for, applicants must be;

• Able to follow directions and be self motivated, while working on a team or individually.
• Punctual and Presentable
• Fluent in English and have solid basic math skills
• Able to work evenings and weekends
• Able to lift at least 25#
• Over the age of 18 (for beverage permit reasons)
• A person with strong work ethics
• Looking to make a long-term commitment

Currently we are taking applications for the following positions;

• Cook / Sous Chef: Ours is a “work hard – play hard” kind of crew that has a passion for doing their very best. We are a small crew with all hands on deck during operation.  Culinary “rock stars” don’t do well with us.  Must be ready to be hands on in all phases, glamorous and otherwise.  JOB DUTIES WILL RANGE FROM CLEANING TO GRILLING.  Motivated and organized a must.  Only hardworking, presentable, dependable people need apply. In addition you must know the meaning of having a strong work ethic.  We are looking for a long-term teammate seeking opportunity. YOU MUST have at least one year of line cooking experience.  Recent experience gets preference. Although helpful, only having culinary school, catering, fast food or banquet experience is not enough.

• Retails Sales Associate: This is a Chocolate Shoppe position that is full-time, year ‘round. The right person will be available to work Evenings and Weekends.  No regular late nights. A great retail schedule.  This position combines both package production and guest services.  A good fit would be a strong sales person with a creative side.  The right candidate would be looking to make a long-term commitment with an eye on advancing.  Must be available to work at either the Dania Beach or Wilton Manors locations. Reliable transportation with working a/c a must.
• Chocolate Factory Assistant: This position will start out as P/T, days and grow from there.  Experience in a bakery or professional kitchen is helpful but not required. Must be able to lift at least 25#.

This is a great place to work! We’re looking for dedicated people that want to join a “family” that works hard & plays hard. Only self-started, motivated people need apply.
